£1,000 raised for GSPCA
Over £800 was raised for the GSPCA by Insurance Corporation staff at a special car boot sale last weekend. The company, which is in its 32nd year decided to increase the amount and presented a cheque for £1,000 to Steve Byrne, the GSPCA Manager.
‘Many staff at Insurance Corporation are animal lovers and the GSPCA do such amazing work we wanted to something to help them,’ says Viv Roussel, the Head of HR and Development at Insurance Corporation.
‘We decided that as part of our corporate social responsibility activities we would organise an event and raise funds for a cause close to our hearts. A car boot sale was the perfect idea and we contacted the GSPCA and got all our staff involved.
‘There was face-painting, giant animal suits, as well as lucky dip, tombola, dinky donuts, cakes as well as over 75 cars selling their wares. We want to thank Specsavers for the loan of their carpark and everyone involved who supported the event.’
Steve Byrne says that the weather was perfect for an event such as this and is very grateful to everyone for the hard work put into making the day such a success:
‘Even before 1pm there were dozens of cars arriving and it was a great day. The Insurance Corporation staff put in so much effort and the funds raised have been warmly received by the society.’
