GOSHA Health & Safety Awards 2014

A variety of Guernsey businesses were recognised for their efforts to improve health and safety standards at the GOSHA (Guernsey Occupational Safety and Health Association) annual awards dinner held on the 22 January 2015 at the Old Government House Hotel.

GOSHA chairman Andrew Mills said: “We are delighted with the number, variety and quality of this year’s entrants from large organisations to individuals, all of whom have improved safety standards.

“Increasing numbers at GOSHA’s annual awards evening with over 120 guests reflect how year on year the Association continues to grow in stature since its inception in 2004.”

The awards and commendations were assessed by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Council member and former chair of the Thames Valley Branch, Roy Featherstone, and former British Safety Council auditor and IOSH chair of the Thames Valley Branch, Chris Stops. The awards were presented by Guernsey’s Commerce and Employment Minister, Deputy Kevin Stewart.

Managing Director of event sponsor Insurance Corporation, Glyn Smith, said: “Organisations that strive to meet and go above and beyond their health and safety requirements deserve to be rewarded by events such as these. To be able to work for an employer that values its staff and customers’ safety in such a way is something which should be welcomed across all business platforms and the community as a whole.”
